ABOUT OLIVIA

Louisiana native mezzo-soprano Olivia Gray is a Miami-based vocalist pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music (FSOM), studying with Sandra Lopez-Neill. Gray is a recipient of the Graduate Teaching Assistantship Award at Frost. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Mannes School of Music in New York City. Performances within the past year include the role of Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte at the Miami Music Festival (MMF), Octavian from Der Rosenkavalier in student-directed scenes with the Frost School of Music, and Minskwoman in Dove’s Flight with Frost Opera Theater (FOT), in which she was praised for her "radiant middle register" by South Florida Classical Review. In addition, Gray presented her Master’s recital this spring. Further past roles include Mrs. Olsen in Street Scene with FOT, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at Trentino Music Festival, and Mrs. Herring in Albert Herring at MMF.

Next, she will sing as the alto soloist for Rossini's Stabat Mater with the St. Louis Cathedral Choir and Orchestra in New Orleans as well as creating the role of Sérannes in Shilt’s new opera Julie at FSOM this April. She will then perform the roles of Baker’s Wife and Jack’s Mother in Sondheim’s Into the Woods this June/July with Opera in the Ozarks.
